The Northeast Center, in conjunction with the other three regional Centers, conducts the Extension Risk Management Education Competitive Grants Program funded through USDA’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA). This program involves an annual competitive process and provides funding to both public and private sector organizations for educational projects designed to improve the ability of agricultural producers, including those underserved by crop insurance, to effectively manage the complex risks associated with their agribusinesses. The projects supported by the program provide tools and training which enable producers to establish new risk management strategies that will strengthen the economic viability of their farm enterprises.
Since 2001 the center has awarded $9,482,504 in grant funds to help producers learn new strategies to manage the agricultural risks they face.
